Richmond, VA – October 13, 2017 Rebuilding Together Richmond, a regional affiliate of the national Rebuilding Together nonprofit organization, brings volunteers together to repair the homes of low-income homeowners in the Petersburg community. The majority of home repair projects will take place during the month of October and will culminate on Saturday, October 21st for its annual Fall Fix-Up Day.
Fall Fix-Up Day is embraced by community leaders and corporate partners as a way to bring immediate, large-scale impact to across communities in the Tri-Cities area. Major financial and volunteer contributors include Dominion Energy, Capital One, UPS Foundation, Snagajob and The Cameron Foundation.
“Rebuilding Together Richmond is an important partner in supporting our work to revitalize communities across the Tri-Cities area,” noted The Cameron Foundation’s president, J. Todd Graham. “We are encouraged to see how the Fall Fix-Up Day is inspiring volunteers of Rebuilding Together Richmond, as well as other community-serving groups, to combine efforts and create greater impact on a neighborhood in a single day,” he added.
Since its 1992 inception, Rebuilding Together Richmond volunteers have served veterans, older adults and low-income families with children by providing them with a variety of free home repairs. This year, nearly 1,000 volunteers are scheduled to complete repair services; approximately half of them are from local corporations and businesses.
“We are not just in Richmond anymore,” said Mary Kay Huss, executive director of Rebuilding Together Richmond. “There is a need across the Greater Richmond region – especially in Petersburg and surrounding communities. We work side-by-side with homeowners and families to address their needs, creating a greater sense of connection to those that we serve. We thank our partners and supporters for making Fall Fix-Up Day and our entire rebuilding program a reality.”
